 Nirmala Sitaraman handed over 640 houses funded under SWAMIH and 12400 houses are expected to be completed in the coming year.

SWAMIH is an Alternative Investment Fund that was launched by Nirmala Sitaraman in November 2019.

As real estate is under stress during the period 2019 to date and Financial institutions could not lend more, the alternative fund of INR 25000 Crores was created to provide the fund and completion of projects, which are RERA registered.

Alternative Investment of SWAMIH was created for the completion of nearly 60000 homes across India.

SWAMIH was funded by 14 investors. Government of India 50% amount to 12500 Crores, LIC, SBI each of 2500 crores each and 30% by private and public sectors.

This is expected to give a big move for employment, Steel and cement industry as well as banks and NBFC.

Interestingly, NRI's are also looking to buy property in India, due to better capital access, buying as a financial investment, sentimental, easing regulations, and weaker rupee.
